Working Afterschool Programs

Chess Instructors will lead afterschool programs in the Midtown Toronto area. Classes start from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM depending on the schools schedule and will run for approximately 1 hour.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead classes with six to 20 students
  • Actively guide students towards completing the assigned project
  • Classroom management
  • Advance student knowledge following curriculum
  • Lesson plan development, and ability to follow lesson plans
  • Room setup and organization
  • Motivate and engage students
  • Communicating clear instructions and guiding a team of younger instructors

Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching students ages 6 to 16
  • Good classroom management skills
  • Willingness to learn

Ideal Candidate:

  • CPR – First Aid certified an asset (you may be required to be certified within 1 month of hiring)
  • Successful Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Has a valid G licence and or access to a vehicle of their own
